US Denies Visas to Cuban Correspondents to the United Nations
HAVANA, Cuba, Sept 29 (ACN) Two Cuban reporters working as United Nations correspondents for the international news agency Prensa Latina (PL) were denied re-entry visas to the United States after they spent their holidays in Cuba.A statement issued in Havana by PL’s General Management says that Ilsa Rodriguez Santana and her husband Tomas Anael Granados Jimenez had been assigned to the United Nations for the past three years.Rodriguez Santana and Granados Jimenez have been working with PL for four decades. The two of them are senior journalists withprevious expertise as news correspondents in India, Zimbabwe, Chinaand New York, the text added.Prensa Latina described the US act as outrageous. The report notes that the American decision bluntly violates their rights as correspondents of an international news agency whose presence at the United Nations dates back from almost half a century. The visa denial also shows the United States´ open disdain for journalism and the universal human right of informing and beinginformed, while not fulfilling its duty as host to the United Nations main headquarters, the statement said.

The "Yes" vote wins with 70% in Ecuador• according to exit polls
QUITO.— Some 70% of Ecuadorians have voted in favor of the new Constitution drafted by the Constituent Assembly, according to exit polls by the Cedatos company, announced prior to official information, reported EFE. According to exit poll results announced on the Ecuavisa television channel, just 25% of the ballots registered a "No" vote, while 4% were spoiled and 1% left blank. President Rafael Correa confirmed that there was a "historic triumph" in terms of last Sunday’s referendum to establish a new constitution with a socialist bias which, according to the exit polls, had been approved by a wide majority. "A new victory thanks to God and thanks to the Ecuadorian people," said the president, who claimed the referendum had been a victory, even in the city of Guayaquil, Reuters reports.
